"Letting other big metro fire district’s cherry pick Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protection District’s seasoned firefighters would be a disaster. It’s also time to allow PGFPD to provide its own ambulance services. This will dramatically improve response times to 911 medical emergency calls."

Your vote is critical.

It’s about protecting emergency services and improving 911 response times for medical emergencies

The Problem:

  • Our service population is growing and aging.
  • Emergency call volume continues to increase, especially 911 emergency medical calls.
  • Metro fire districts are cherry picking seasoned first responders throughout the state, including first responders in many rural areas.
  • Losing experienced firefighters to other fire districts would be a serious blow to our district’s response capabilities.
  • The private ambulance service that serves our district is often 10 to 15 minutes behind PGFPD’s first responders on emergency medical calls.
  • Our firefighter/EMTs cannot provide advanced life support (ALS). Only paramedics with the private ambulance can provide ALS.
  • Your fire district has not asked for additional funds in 20 years.
  • PGFPD’s mill levy is well below its peer districts.

The Solution:

Your YES vote on Issue 5A will fund Platteville-Gilcrest Fire Protection District’s highest priority needs:

  • Attracting and retaining experienced first responders.
  • Starting a 24/7/365 in-house ambulance service to serve the District.
  • Hiring additional first responders to better serve you.

An investment of $2.25* will save lives and property.

  • Passage of Issue 5A will result in a tax rate increase of $2.25* per month per $100,000 of a home’s actual value.
  • It’s a small investment with big benefits.
  • The tax impact is even lower for those who qualify for Colorado’s Senior Property Tax Exemption.
